Hello Jackie! Fancy meeting you here! It's winter at the moment so you won't be able to grow much. I suggest you dig up the floor and cover it in muck and soil. Then in spring you will be ready to take the roof off and sow some seeds. You might have to tether Winston up to a post to stop him scratching about in your new plot and possibly do the same with your husband. Happy gardening!

I want your advice on sprouts!! You seem to be able to grow monster sprout plants!! HOW? I didn't do too well this last year with them (my first year for sprouts) what variety do you use? When you plant them and when you put lime around them do you also put lime into the planting hole? Any advice gratefully received!

Hi, I grew "Romanesco" (from Kings Seeds I think) this year. There's more about how I grew them under the Brussels Sprouts label and what I did and when under the Records label. Like all brassicas they do best in very fertile ground so I dig in muck or compost in the winter. I don't put lime in the planting hole just around them.

Oops, it was "Cascade F1" I grew, not "Romanesco", which was the autumn broccoli. God I must get some sleep.
